Jingle all the way challenge: Why 11or 22 Minutes?

For our jingle all the way challenge, we’re encouraging our participants to accumulate 11 minutes of cardio where their heart rate averages in the category for vigorous intensity activity.

The 11 minutes a day, if accumulated every day over the course of the week, meets the minimum requirement for vigorous physical activity for the week

The 22 minutes a day, if accumulated every day over the course of the week, meets the minimum requirement for moderate physical activity

These are the minumums we need to meet weekly in order to maintain cardiovacular health according to the CDC and every other entity with an expertise in Public Health. Meeting the minimums the thing that most of us are missing in our week, whether it be the 150 minutes of moderate intensity, or the 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity.

The goal of this challenge is not only get people moving consistently during a time of year where most of us are just holding on by the reindeer reins trying to stay on our feet, but also to show that if you take small bites out of the week to do something a bit harder (I could never jump rope this hard for 75 minutes) then the hard thing done more frequently at smaller / shorter bouts is suddenly very achievable.

If you want to participate in our challenge, its not too late. Just click the link to get signed up.
