The only holiday nutrition checklist you’ll ever need.
When it comes to making decisions regarding your nutrition around the holidays, these are the eight points that you need to focus on in order to have a solid game plan for managing your eating habits in a way that will make the holidays enjoyable and healthier. Spend some time thinking through your answers to theses eight points and you can make your decisions before the situations arise.
Decide whether you will stick to your healthy habits or take a temporary break.
Think about your food decisions on a spectrum from most healthy choice at a 10 to least healthy choice as a 1 . Decide how many level ‘better” choices you can commit to make instead of feeling pressure to make the “perfect” choice every time.
Start to think about your absolute minimums, what are you not willing to compromise on? (1 serving of greens/day, breakfast at home everyday, etc).
Brainstorm options for travel snacks you can bring instead of rely on roadside stops.
Use the two most important principles of good nutrition (eat slowly and mindfully to stop before you are 80% full).
Restaurant strategies I will use? (appetizer instead of full meal when not hungry, split dessert).
Spend some time thinking about WHY is sticking to these strategies above it important to you.
Create some strategies around how will you remember to apply these strategies.
