Goal Setting simplified: Who is on your team?
Step 5: Establish your Team
Last week we established that we need an accountability system of consequences in order to hold ourselves accountable for achieving our goals. Now you need a team of in your corner to disclose the results of your progress in a transparent manner, help you to account for your activities, and to hold you responsible for achieving them. Accountability cannot rely solely on your shoulders. Every great athlete has a coach, often several coaches to help them manage tasks, processes, and outcomes.
Having an accountability team forces you to clarify expectations for every task, deliverable and deadline. Your team gives you a structured system for having progress reports to review current status and brainstorm any roadblocks. With your team, you will clearly lay out your objective and any consequences for not achieving your objective well in advance of starting your journey. They will be able to help support your progress but also hold you accountable for the things you commit to doing. It’s not that you cannot do it on your own, but that having a team will make you that much more successful in achieving your goals.
